Basic Qualifications
- Candidates should have Ph.D. in Economics from a reputed Institute or University in India or abroad.
- Candidates who have defended their dissertation are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates need to submit proof of defense at the time of joining.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Desirable qualifications for specific areas:

- For the positions in Macro the candidates should have experience in applied econometrics and familiarity of economic databases and econometric software such as Stata along with proficiency in Microsoft packages, especially with Excel, including macros, Power Point and Word.
- For the positions in Gender and Macroeconomics the candidate should have experience in economic analysis (including economic policy modeling and policy analysis) with preference for expertise in the areas of gender, macroeconomics, finance, economic growth, and inequality.
- For the position in Health and Systems the candidates should have experience in economic analysis and expertise in health policies and systems to improve effectiveness, equity, and efficiency of health systems.
- For the position in Human Development, candidates should have a doctorate in quantitative social sciences such as Economics, Public Policy, Geography, Sociology, Demography or Public Health. And, experience in geo-spatial analysis using GIS and mapping software.
- For Trade, Technology and Skills, candidate should have a self-driven performer with a passion for delving into complex trade, technology & skills sector policy challenges, cutting-edge technical background, multi-tasking capabilities, a flair for detail, and the ability to adhere to stringent timelines
- For States, Sectors, Surveys, and Impact Evaluation, analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative) and demonstrated experience of independent designing, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of studies and superlative problem solving, analytical and presentation skills.
Remuneration and Benefits:
- The Post-Doctoral Fellows would be paid a competitive consolidated amount of up to Rs. 1,00,000/- to 1,20,000/- per month (all inclusive) commensurate with NCAER policies and skill set of the candidates.
- Candidates will be provided a working space, access to library resources, and IT facilities.
- The position envisaged is that of ‘Post-Doctoral Fellow’. However, candidates interested in career at NCAER can be considered for regular faculty positions based on their performance as Post-Doctoral Fellows.
- Candidates would get an opportunity to directly work with the Team Leaders and Senior Faculty members and engage with other senior researchers at NCAER.
- Candidates will get first-hand experience of applied policy analysis, learn new skills, and a chance to interact with policy makers.
- Candidates will have an excellent opportunity to build a peer-reviewed journal publication portfolio, as well as articles written for print and digital media.
