Ongoing Hiring
We are hiring on an ongoing basis and seek researchers at all levels from early-career faculty to Professors.
The broad guidelines for appointing researchers at different levels are as follows:
Professors
Minimum experience: 15 to 20 years.
- Provide intellectual and technical leadership; develop, oversee, and execute a portfolio of projects and research grants; manage and supervise teams of younger faculty members and external consultants engaged on project basis.
- The position requires in-depth analytical expertise, a high level of flexibility, self-motivation, and drive to engage with senior ranks of policy makers and donors to attract research grants and deliver innovative and cutting-edge evidence-based policy insights.
- The candidates must possess PhD in economics and/or advanced professional degrees in management and a strong record of research/ teaching/grant writing/ government service/consulting, and publications across multiple previous positions, including from senior ranks of government.
Senior Fellows
Minimum Experience: 10 to 15 years
- Senior Fellows also provide intellectual and technical leadership; develop, oversee, and execute a portfolio of projects and research grants; manage and supervise teams of younger faculty members and external consultants engaged on project basis.
- The candidates must possess PhD in economics and/or advanced professional degrees in management and possess a strong record of research/teaching/grant writing/government service/consulting, and publications across multiple previous positions, including from senior ranks of government.
Fellows
Minimum Experience: 5 to 10 years
Fellows are mid-career professionals with a strong, post-PhD record of research/teaching/grant writing/government service/consulting, and publications across multiple previous positions, including from middle level ranks of government over at least one previous position.
Associate Fellows
Associate Fellows can have nearly completed PhDs with cutting-edge analytical expertise, a high level of flexibility, self-motivation.
Exceptional candidates with MPAs/MBAs/Mas/M Phil degrees will also be considered.
Research Analysts/Associates
Research Analysts/Associates should have at least Master’s degree in Economics/Statistics and Social Sciences from reputed Indian or foreign universities.

NCAER’s Gender Policy is in addition, and not in derogation, to the existing laws of India relating to sexual harassment and other applicable laws.
