Tourism Satellite Account 2018-19, Himachal Pradesh

With around 20 million tourists visiting the State every year, Himachal Pradesh thus has a huge tourism potential. Tourism activity contributes immensely to the creation of employment opportunities and also in enhancing the State’s income through a significant generation of demand for goods and services among tourists. It is thus, important to estimate the economic benefits of the State’s tourism sector through implementation of a well-designed and internationally accepted framework. Such a framework has been prepared by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in its publication called ‘Tourism Satellite Account: Recommended Methodological Framework, 2008 (TSA: RMF 2008)”. This study by NCAER attempts to use the same methodological framework to prepare the TSA at the sub-national level for the State of Himachal Pradesh.
