Asrar Alam is an Associate Fellow at the NCAER States, Sectors, Surveys, and Impact Evaluation division. He has worked on a wide variety of studies, including both survey and non-survey-based studies, some major studies include; Assessment of Faceless Assessment Scheme of Income Tax Department, Education Satellite Account, Tourism Satellite Accounts, Gems & Jewellery sector of India, the N-SIPI investment index, Concurrent Monitoring & Impact Assessment of Handloom Clusters across India, Impact Evaluation of MoMA Scholarship Scheme, National Survey of Household Income & Expenditure, and a number of other studies. In recent years, he has focused extensively on the Monitoring and Impact Evaluation Studies.
He has a rich experience of primary data collection for large-scale surveys including both household and industry survey, qualitative interviews, questionnaire designing, data management and analysis and handling large scale data sets like PLFS, NSSO employment & consumption data sets, ASI, etc. His research interests include quantitative and qualitative assessment of government schemes, human development, income, expenditure, poverty, demography.
