Rohit Goel, CFA works as the head of global macro research at Breakout Capital, leading a team responsible for the country selection, allocation and hedging framework – along with the fund’s thought leadership publications. Breakout Capital invests assets from global sovereign wealth and pension funds into global emerging markets.
Until April 2022, Mr Goel held senior roles at the International Monetary Fund, leading sections of the Global Financial Stability Report, and helped revamp the global financial stability monitoring framework. He was also responsible for institutionalizing multiple high frequency surveillance frameworks in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF. Along with multi-lateral surveillance, he was also involved in bilateral surveillance in multiple countries including Brazil, South Africa and Euro Area.
His research on emerging markets, asset valuations and cross border spillovers has been published extensively including through policy papers, books as well as financial market publications including Financial Times. Mr Goel has also been a frequent guest speaker across various universities, private entities and central banks.
He holds a BTech in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He has also been awarded CFA, CAIA and FRM certifications.
