Evaluation of Functioning of Tribal Research Institute (TRI) in Assam

This study was undertaken by NCAER for the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India to evaluate the functioning of Tribal Research Institute (TRI) in Assam. The evaluation provides an analysis of TRI’s manpower capacity and its infrastructure, including building, museum and library. The evaluation also assesses research studies conducted by TRI over the years and its training activities conducted for the welfare of the unemployed youth among Scheduled Tribes.

Sustaining Growth and Reducing Inflation- Challenges in 2011-12: NCAER-IIC Mid-Year Review of the Economy

The primary objective of this study is to assess the readership status and pattern from the perspective of “leisure book” or “non-text” reading of north-east India. In order to have a relative understanding of the situation in the north-east, the study further aims to compare the results for the north-east with national level findings. It also attempts to compare the results with similar findings from one rich and one backward state of the country. Another important objective of the study is to identify how different demographic and socioeconomic factors impact the likelihood of reading leisure books by literate youth and to measure the level of impact.

How Households Save and Invest: Evidence from NCAER Household Survey (Annexure Tables)

The global economy is on a recovery path after the shocks of the severe financial and economic crises of 2008 and 2009. This study, third in this area supported by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has focused on understanding the behaviour of households as investors in various financial instruments which are traded in markets regulated by SEBI.

The Remote Village Electrification Programme in India: Assessment of Experience in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) of the Government of India, has been implementing schemes for electrification of remote villages through renewable energy sources since 2001-02. The early programme was renamed as ‘Remote Village Electrification Programme’ (RVEP) in 2003- 04 aligning it with and complementing the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) of the Ministry of Power. Under this scheme about 97 per cent of the villages receive solar photovoltaic home lighting systems, which provide two lights to each household.
