Prabir Kumar Ghosh is a Senior Fellow at NCAER. Currently, he is involved in coordinating all-India level survey work and analysis of large scale primary data. His research interests include development economics, human development, income, expenditure, poverty & nutrition, demography, and budgetary analysis on social sector & poverty alleviation programs.
Debasis Barik is a Senior Fellow, at the NCAER National Data Innovation Centre. He is a demographer by training with a specialization in economic demography and ageing. He has worked on public health, migration, gender, and intergenerational well-being. However, more than a decade of work at NCAER has diversified his research career, now spanning the intersection of demography, economics, and human development. Dr. Barik’s current research focuses broadly on the adaptation process of Indian households to environmental threats.
In recent years, Dr. Barik has focused extensively on the design and implementation of large household surveys. As a member of the core team for the India Human Development Survey – Wave 3, he has helped design questions slated to be administered to nearly 50,000 households nationwide, taking into account the geographical and cultural diversity of India. He has also developed tools for remote monitoring of data and quality control.
His research has been published in journals of global repute, including World Development, Feminist Economics, and Health Economics. He has served on the expert group of National Health Accounts (NHA), formed by the National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC), Government of India, to institutionalize the NHA estimates annually. He also contributes opinion articles to English language dailies.
Dinesh Kumar Tiwari is a Fellow at NCAER. He is an anthropologist with rich experience of primary data collection for large-scale social surveys, qualitative interviews, and experimental data collection, with a special focus on field management, monitoring and supervision, and ensuring data quality. He is part of the National Data Innovation Centre (NDIC), and is currently engaged in co-ordination, trainings, supervision, data collection and field management for Round 3 of the India Human Development Survey (IHDS) project. He has earlier also undertaken these tasks for the IHDS round II (2011-12) and Migration Survey (IHDS-II-M). He has also worked on conceptualising and implementing experimental research for the Delhi Metropolitan Area Study (DMAS) and the Delhi NCR Coronavirus Telephone Survey (DCVTS). Prior to joining NCAER, he has worked with various reputed research organisations like the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi, the World Bank, and the Center de Sciences Humaines, Embassy of France (Palanpur Study). His areas of interest include migration studies, ethnographic research, public health, and experimental economics.
O. P. Sharma is a Consultant at the NCAER, specializing in primary data collection, field management, field training, coding and editing. He is currently working in the project ‘India Human Development Survey-III. Some of the other studies he has worked on include: Fertilizer Consumption and Quality Seeds, India Human Development Survey-I 2004-05, Rural Economic and Demographic Change in India, India Human Development Survey-II 2011-12 and Third Census of Handloom Weavers. Between 1988 and 2005, he headed the NCAER Field Office at Bhopal recruiting, training and supervising field staff and editing primary data
Palash Baruah is a Fellow at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). He is a Statistician by training and is involved in sampling design for various studies conducted by the NCAER. He has been involved in many large-scale studies at the NCAER relating to agriculture, households income & expenditure, youth, impact of communication on economy, small borrowing, tourism economy, health satellite accounts, economic impact of airport operations, fisheries etc. His areas of research interest includes morbidity and public health, demography, inequality, etc. Prior to joining NCAER, he was associated with the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi.
