Amit Mitra

Amit Mitra is a Research Associate in the Computable General Equilibrium Modelling and Policy Analysis department at NCAER.

Mr. Mitra holds a Master’s degree in Economics, specializing in Trade and Finance, from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Presidency University, Kolkata.

He has gained research experience through internships at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), New Delhi, and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal.

Proficient in programming languages such as Stata, R, Python, and EViews, his research interests encompass International Trade, Development Economics, Politics, and Policy Analysis.

Isha Dayal

Isha Dayal is Consultant at NCAER. She has earlier been a Research Fellow with the World Trade Institute (WTI), University of Bern, Switzerland, as a Swiss Government Excellence Scholar. She has also worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). Her research interests include trade facilitation and development, value chains, competitiveness, political economy, and issues concerning climate change; and she has worked on an edited volume and articles on these themes. She has contributed to research design, data collection methods, and analysis for several studies. Her professional experience also includes consultancies with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC Ltd). She holds a PhD in Public Policy from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore; a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economic Development and Policy Analysis from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom; and a Bachelor of Arts (BA Honours) in Economics from Miranda House College, University of Delhi.

Sharmistha Baig

Ms. Sharmistha Baig as a Senior Advisor in the States, Sectors, Surveys, and Impact Evaluation unit.

Ms. Baig did her Master’s in Geography (Gold Medalist) from the Jawaharlal Nehru University and Masters in Urban Planning from the School of Planning & Architecture.

Ms. Baig has worked with Nielsen India Private Limited for 27 years and retired as Director, Public Development and Sustainability division in April 2023. Prior to that she has worked with a number of private sector organisations including ORGPL, India Limited;  ORG-MART, India Ltd. ; ML Infomap; and Programme Support Unit in Lucknow (an Indo-Dutch collaboration). She has specialized experience in primary research and has worked extensively in the areas of water and sanitation, rural development including livelihoods, women and child health, enterprise surveys, among others. She has undertaken research for the Government of India and various donor agencies including the World Bank, UNICEF, WSP-SA; and institutions (NCAER, CEPT University and international NGOs).

Manu Prathap

Manu Prathap is working as a Research Associate at NCAER. He completed his Master in Economics from Department of Economics, University of Kerala in October 2022, and completed his Bachelors in Economics from Government Arts College, Trivandrum.

During Bachelor’s Manu has worked as teacher in National Institution of Language Acquisition, Trivandrum. Additionally, he has done summer internships, Inter University Centre for Alternative Economics, Trivandrum. After graduation, Manu joined as Research Intern at Fiscal Policy Institute, Bangalore. Later on, he joined as Research Intern at Division of Central Finance, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai.
