Monil Sharma

Monil Sharma is a Research Associate at NCAER. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics with a specialization in Trade & Finance from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi.

He has experience in international trade, macroeconomic research, economic policy analysis and Monitoring, learning and evaluation (MEL). Previously, he worked at Arcus Policy Research and Pahle India Foundation, where he contributed to projects for organizations such as the Gates Foundation, the Ministry of Agriculture, and Walmart. Monil is skilled in economic analysis, survey design, and stakeholder engagement, with proficiency in Python, R, and Stata. His research interests lie in international trade, macroeconomic policy, and development economics.

Kushagra Thakral

Kushagra Thakral is a Research Associate at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), with a specialization in international trade and finance. He has worked on multiple research projects mainly pertaining to the analysis of macroeconomic trends and international trade dynamics.

He has a good command over econometric and statistical modelling and hands-on experience using analytical tools like Python, EViews and Stata. His area of interest lies in international trade and development economics.

Subrata Rath

Subrata Sekhar Rath is a consultant at NCAER in the research theme Computable General Equilibrium Modelling and Policy Analysis. His research interest lies in environmental policies and climate finance. Prior to joining NCAER, he worked  at the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability as a policy analyst. His work included climate finance projects related to green economic recovery, budgetary analysis for climate mitigation/adaption and carbon tax. He has also worked at the Quality Council of India on projects like Swachh Survekshan, ODF (Open – Defecation Free), Namami Ganga, and more, related to water and sanitation in rural and urban India.

He holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Science from TERI School of Advanced Studies.

Ujala Kumari

Ujala Kumari is a Consultant at NCAER, in the Research Theme of Computable General Equilibrium Modelling and Policy Analysis, with a strong focus on Public Finance. With over three years of experience, she has worked extensively in the social development sectors, analysing and interpreting large financial datasets to drive meaningful policy insights.

Before joining NCAER, Ujala served as a Policy Analyst at the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA), where she contributed to budgetary research and advocacy. She was also involved in the building and management of the Open Budgets India portal, an effort led by CBGA to build transparency and open access to machine readable and analysable budget data. Her core areas of interest include Health Economics, Sustainable Finance, and Public Budgeting, particularly in decoding Union and State Budgets for evidence-based policymaking. Passionate about leveraging data-driven approaches, she aims to bridge the gap between fiscal policies and social development outcomes.
