COVId-19 Vaccination Dashboard

The COVID-19 vaccination dashboard that was prepared by NDIC in collaboration with the Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI). I am quite pleased with the work done by the CMI interns using R shiny app. Of course it can be improved in terms of better speed and screen display- Abhinav and Bijay will continue working on it for further enhancements.

The objective of this dashboard is to track the progress of vaccination in India across states and districts over time. Key features of the dashboard include:

  • Trends in vaccination doses- India, state and district level
  • Vaccination doses by dose type, vaccine type, age group, and gender- India and state level
  • Gap in achieving the target of fully vaccinating all adults by the end of the year- India and state level
  • District-wise vaccination coverage for 15 relatively large states- at least one dose and two doses
  • Comparison of trend between top and bottom performing districts (highlight the legend to select from top 3 and bottom 3)
  • Map view of % of total adult doses administered so far- by gender
  • Map view of % of adults receiving at least one dose and two doses

We need to think through how best to disseminate the dashboard and reach out to the policy makers for better administration of the vaccination program. Link of the dashboard:

One major area of concern is the availability of vaccination data going forward. As you may know covid19india.org has stopped their operation since October 31, 2021. But some other group is about to take it over and will continue providing data on a daily basis

Note that it’s work in progress, so there could be some glitches in this new data source.
